Men’s Tennis falls in close contest at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team traveled to Charlotte on Saturday afternoon, falling in a close one to the 49ers by the score of 4-3.
Asheville continued to have success at the doubles, with Charlie Morkel and Jon Brann Reid teaming up for a win at the No. 1 spot and Leo Bierbaum and Harry Thursfield grabbed a 7-5 victory at the No. 3 position, outlasting their opponents to earn the team point for Asheville.
After dropping set one 6-0, Thursfield responded with a gritty 6-3, 7-6 (7-5 tiebreak) win at the No. 4 singles position. Sirawit Daosaengsawang fared well at the No. 6 singles flight, defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-0. Although he did not prevail, Reid battled at the No. 3 singles, ultimately falling in the third set 6-2.
The Bulldogs now sit at 3-4 overall in 2021, but return home for their next match on Thursday, hosting Presbyterian in their first Big South contest of the season.
