Volleyball Hosts High Point This Week

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team will be back in action this week as it hosts High Point on Wednesday and Thursday at the Justice Center. These matches, which were originally supposed to be played Thursday and Friday, are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, and can be watched on ESPN+.
Last Time Out – Asheville began its 2020-21 season last weekend with a pair of matches against Campbell. The Fighting Camels came away with a pair of 3-0 victories against the Bulldogs with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 on Friday and 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 Saturday.
Stats on a Senior – Senior Cecilia Stack began her season on a high note over the weekend totaling nine kills on 20 attacks with two attack errors for a hitting percentage of .350. Stack's hitting percentage currently leads the team and ranks eighth in the Big South among attackers that have appeared in at least two-thirds of their team's sets this season.
About High Point – High Point enters the week as one of three undefeated teams remaining in the Big South (2-0). HPU looked like a balanced squad in its season-opening series against Presbyterian as it attacked at a .361 clip and held the Blue Hose to a .045 hitting percentage in the two matches.
Series Rewind vs. High Point – Historically, the Bulldogs have fared well against High Point, sporting a 32-15 all-time record against the Panthers dating back to 1986. However, High Point has held the edge recently, winning the last six meetings between the two programs. Asheville's last win over HPU came on October 15, 2016, at the Justice Center in three sets.
