ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday when it welcomes Warren Wilson to Kimmel Arena. Wednesday's contest, which is sponsored by Arby's, will serve as the team's annual Education Day and is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. tip-off on ESPN+.
Last Time Out – Asheville dropped a 71-56 decision to Appalachian State Sunday at home. With the defeat, the Bulldogs are now 3-3 on the 2021-22 season.
Bulldogs Bouncing Back – Even with the relatively small sample size, the Bulldogs have been able to bounce back after dropping a game through the early going this season. After losses to UNC Greensboro (52-48) and Furman (64-49), Asheville came back to defeat Western Carolina (74-72) and Wofford (70-64), respectively.
Carter finding consistency – After reaching double figures just once in the team's first four games, Kai Carter has found her groove offensively with back-to-back 20-plus point performances. Carter scored a season-high 21 points at Wofford last Tuesday and followed that outing with a 20-point outing vs. Appalachian State on Sunday.
Not stopping Nadiria – Fifth-year senior Nadiria Evans continues to score in bunches for the Bulldogs. Evans nearly averaged a double-double with 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest in last week's action alone. Entering this week's action, Evans leads all Big South players averaging 19.2 points per game.
About Warren Wilson – Warren Wilson will enter Wednesday's game with the Bulldogs with a 2-4 record so far this season with victories over Bob Jones (64-56) and Salem (69-58). Kana Parker is a player to watch for the Owls, who tallied 17 points in their last game at Greensboro College.
Series Rewind vs. Warren Wilson – Asheville has matched up with Warren Wilson a total of four times, with the first being during the 2015-16 season. The Bulldogs have won each of the four previous meetings, and they scored over 100 points in three of the four matchups.
