Men’s basketball faces Tennessee Tech in neutral-site matchup Thursday

ASHEVILLE, N.C.  – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team travels back to Chattanooga on Thursday, facing Tennessee Tech at 6:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
Asheville played in McKenzie Arena this past Sunday, falling to the Chattanooga Mocs 75-45 in its opening game of the Coke Zero Sugar Classic multi-team event (MTE). The Bulldogs struggled from three (4-for-20) as the Mocs grabbed 49 rebounds in the win. It was the third game in just five days for Asheville, as Trent Stephney produced a balanced line of 13 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Three is Key
Despite knocking down just four treys at Chattanooga on Sunday, Asheville ranks 40th in the country in made 3-pointers (31), checking in at 43rd in both 3-pointers per game (10.3) and 3-point field-goal percentage (40.8). Transfer Drew Pember (Tennessee) has knocked down four 3-pointers while totaling a team-high nine blocks and graduate transfer Quay Kimble (Lees-McRae) has gone 7-for-10 from 3-point range. The Bulldogs will look to get their Big South-leading duo of Tajion Jones and Coty Jude going from behind the arc Thursday.

Scouting Tennessee Tech
Like Asheville, the Golden Eagles ate 1-2 on the young season, dropping a 69-62 contest at Chattanooga on Tuesday night. Keishawn Davidson, who leads the team in points per game (16.0), scored 14 points, snagged seven rebounds and dished out four assists, while Jr. Clay, who was named preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference, totaled 15 in the loss. Clay has backed up his preseason nod, ranking seventh in Division I with a total of 22 assists on the season (7.3 apg). The Golden Eagles have been strong on the glass, ranking 23rd in total blocks (18) and 27th in rebounds (123), grabbing 41 against the big from Chattanooga.

Series History
The teams have played just three times in their history, with the Golden Eagles holding the 2-1 advantage all-time. The Bulldogs were victorious in 1998-99 (88-74), but fell in 1999-2000 (51-85).
