04.23.2026 | Men's Basketball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Mike Morrell announced Thursday (April 23) that Ja'Corey Lipkins has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the Bulldogs for the 2026–27 season.

The 6-2 guard from Canton, Ohio, comes to UNC Asheville after most recently spending the 2025–26 season at Purdue Fort Wayne, where he utilized the year as a redshirt campaign. Prior to his time with the Mastodons, Lipkins competed at NCAA Division II Charleston (W.V.), where he put together an outstanding freshman season.

His freshman year at Charleston, Lipkins earned Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year honors while also being named to the All-Mountain East Second Team. He appeared in all 28 games with 16 starts, leading the team with 14.3 points per game. Lipkins showcased his perimeter shooting ability, knocking down 40.9 percent (81-of-198) from beyond the arc.

Among his standout performances at Charleston, Lipkins poured in 42 points on 13-of-20 shooting, including 10-of-15 from three-point range, against Wheeling on Dec. 14, 2024. He also added 23 points with six made three-pointers against Davis & Elkins on Jan. 18, 2025 and recorded 22-point performances against Glenville State (Feb. 26) and Salem (W.V.) (Dec. 12).
