Women’s soccer falls at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team traveled to Radford on Wednesday night, falling to the Highlanders 6-0.
Courtney O'Malley's efforts kept the score just 1-0 at half, but the Highlander offense exploded to the tune of five goals in the second to take the game 6-0. Asheville drops to 3-9-1 and is 2-3 in the Big South. With the win, Radford improves to 7-4-1 and pick up its first conference win (1-3-1).

How it Happened
It wasn't long before O'Malley was tested, turning away a 1-on-1 in the fifth minute of play. The senior would add a second save in the 12th before Lindie Clark pushed a shot high. The Highlanders broke through moments later when Kat Parris made the score 1-0. The Highlanders earned a corner late in the first, but O'Malley soared to cut down the cross. Radford threatened as time winded down but O'Malley snagged her fourth save of the half to keep the deficit one at the break.
The Highlanders picked up where they left off in the second, scoring just after the kickoff as Kat Harris rung a shot to the lower left-hand side to double up the lead. Radford would add a third, before O'Malley was there to save a free kick on the goal line. The Highlanders continued the pressure, adding three more scores to take the game 6-0.
What's Next
Asheville remains on the road this weekend, traveling to Campbell on Saturday.
