Men's soccer hosts Furman Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will host Furman at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Greenwood Field.
The Bulldogs are playing with some momentum after forcing a 3-3 draw against VMI last Saturday. After falling behind 3-0 in the first 13 minutes, the Bulldogs answered right back with goals coming just 41 seconds apart in the 14th minute, and eventually scoring the equalizer in the 47th minute. The Bulldogs peppered the net, totaling 29 shots to the Keydets' 17, and were led by senior Nate Evans, who scored a career-high two goals.
Scouting the Paladins
Furman stands at 4-8-1 and 3-2 in Southern Conference play, winning two of their last three matchups against Wofford and East Tennessee State. The Paladins are led by two top-10 scorers in the Southern Conference in senior Jacob Garzon and sophomore Jake Raine, with Raine recording nine goals on the season, which is good for third overall. Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Roberts has also made his mark in conference play, recording 67 saves on the season, good for second overall.
Series History
The Bulldogs are 0-10-1 all-time against the Paladins, but recent contests have been tight, with UNC Asheville pushing a 1-1 draw in 2018, and losing 2-1 in 2019.

Due to the prevalence of COVID in the greater Buncombe County Area, UNC Asheville Athletics asks spectators to please mask up and practice social distancing. We also encourage spectators to bring water and snacks as the concessions will be closed, but we will have food trucks (Bridge & Tunnel). Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff at the Field Drive entrance only.
