Men’s soccer welcomes Campbell to town Wednesday night

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday evening, hosting first-place Campbell at 6:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs are coming off a hard-fought match this past Saturday, being edged out 2-1 by Presbyterian. Jake Kemhadjian scored his first goal in an Asheville uniform, while Leon Musial collected a season-high seven saves. Musial has been steady all season for the Bulldogs, ranking third in the league with a saves per game average of 3.70.
Scouting the Camels
The No. 2 seed from this past spring and preseason No. 2 in this fall's Big South Coaches Poll, Campbell sits atop the league standings with an overall record of 10-3-1 and a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. The Camels have faced two ranked teams to this point, defeating No. 30 UNCG 3-1 and falling to No. 4 North Carolina 1-0. Campbell's goal differential in Big South play is 13, netting 16 goals while conceding only three. Jake Morris leads the conference with four goals in five Big South matches, registering a league-best 11 points and three game-winning goals. The Camels most recently played Winthrop on Saturday, coming away with a 1-0 at Eagle Field.
Series History
Although Campbell has won the last six contests, three games have been decided by just one goal, with the 2018 matchup being a 3-1 affair. When the teams met last season in Buies Creek, the Camels took care of business 4-1.

Due to the prevalence of COVID in the greater Buncombe County Area, UNC Asheville Athletics asks spectators to please mask up and practice social distancing. We also encourage spectators to bring water and snacks as the concessions will be closed, but we will have food trucks (Ciao Y'all). Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff at the Field Drive entrance only.
