Women’s Soccer hosts Presbyterian on Wednesday
10.12.2021 | Women's Soccer
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team returns home on Wednesday, hosting Presbyterian at 6:00 p.m. at Greenwood Field.
Where the Bulldogs Stand
The Bulldogs were only able to muster three shots in the 3-1 loss against Campbell last Saturday, but converted on the limited chances after a Barrett Eidson goal in the 14th minute. That contest also marked the halfway point of the Big South season, where the Bulldogs find themselves in ninth place at 2-4, but are only one game back of the crucial sixth spot in the standings.
Scouting the Blue Hose
Presbyterian enters the game at 1-13-1 and a 0-6-1 conference record, with the lone victory coming against Alabama State in a 1-0 contest. The Blue Hose rank last in the Big South in both goals against and goals for, allowing just over three goals to opponents per game, while averaging just over .500 goals per game. Despite the low scoring number, Presbyterian has had seven different goal scorers, led by senior Kori Lawrence who has two on the year.
Series History
The Bulldogs are 8-4-1 against the Blue Hose all-time, and are 6-1 in games held at Greenwood Field. In last year's contest, Presbyterian escaped with a 2-0 win, after two late goals in the 71st and 80th minutes.
Admission & COVID Protocols
Admission to Wednesday's match, along with all home UNC Asheville soccer matches this season, is free! Due to the prevalence of COVID in the greater Buncombe County Area, UNC Asheville Athletics asks spectators to please mask up and practice social distancing. We also encourage spectators to bring water and snacks as the concessions will be closed, but we will have food trucks (Bridge & Tunnel). Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff at the Field Drive entrance only.
