Zoom to be held January 15
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone invites you to join us for "Noontime Basketball with the Bulldogs," presented by Mako Medical on January 15. Special guests will be Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Morrell, Head Women's Basketball Coach Honey Brown, and former NBA Player and Head Coach Johnny Davis who is the Chairperson of the National Basketball Retired Players Association.
Davis, who resides in Biltmore Lake with his wife, has a decorated basketball career. The Detroit, Michigan, native earned All-State and All-American honors in high school before competing for the University of Dayton in Ohio, where he was the leading scorer for three seasons. After helping Team USA to gold medals with the Intercontinental Cup Team and at the Pan American Games, Davis was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft in 1976 (Portland), playing 10 years in the league and totaling 9.710 points and 3,368 assists in that span.
Davis has remained close to the game following his playing career, working as either an assistant coach or in the front office for 11 NBA teams. Locally, Davis is a member of the UNC Asheville Foundation Board and the Bulldog Anti-Racism Council.
