D1 Baseball Lists Brown among Top 250 Collegiate Prospects for MLB Draft

ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville right-handed pitcher Blake Brown has been listed among the top 250 collegiate prospects heading into the upcoming Major League Baseball Draft, according to D1 Baseball.
Brown was ranked as the 223rd prospect in all of college baseball by the organization. The Dallas, N.C. native was one of two players from the Big South Conference to make this list with Brown being the higher of the two.
In the 2020 season, Brown went 1-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 19 innings pitched for the Bulldogs. Furthermore, Brown struck out a team-high 26 batters in those 19 innings and held opponents to a .141 batting average. Brown was especially good in his last two starts of the season against Belmont and Coppin State where he threw 11.2 scoreless innings with 17 strikeouts.
If Brown is selected, he will become the 21st Bulldog picked in the MLB Draft in the history of the program. The last player chosen from UNC Asheville was Ryan Dull in 2012 by the Oakland Athletics in the 32nd round. Dull, who is currently pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays, has pitched in the majors with Oakland and the New York Yankees.
