Bulldogs Close Out Road Trip with Victory at Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – UNC Asheville's men's tennis team closed out its road trip with a 4-3 victory against Keiser University, Thursday.
Keiser (10-4) opened the match by taking the doubles point with victories at the first and third courts, though Charlie Morkel and Harry Thursfield earned a 7-5 victory at No. 2 against Luke Simkiss and Geronimo Barrios.
After Keiser took a 2-0 lead with a victory at No. 1 singles, Sirawit Daosaengsawang got the Bulldogs (8-6) on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph on the No. 5 court against Gerard Rodriguez. Oli Nolan leveled the dual, winning 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 draw against Geronimo Barrios.
Keiser went back ahead with a three-set victory at the No. 6 spot, but Leo Bierbaum tied things up in the dual, 3-3, with a 7-6, 6-2 triumph at the No. 3 spot.
With the result of the match in the balance, Thursfield rebounded from a 6-4 first-set defeat to claim his match at the No. 4 draw. He won the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, and then dominated the third, 6-0.
"Not our best job today, but we competed well enough to get the job done against a tough team," head coach Tom Hand.
