Game Notes | vs. High Point – Quarterfinals

RADFORD, VA. – After their victory against Charleston Southern Tuesday night, UNC Asheville women's basketball will now shift their focus to High Point as the Bulldogs will face the Panthers in the Quarterfinals of the Hercules Tires Big South Championships, Thursday, March 12, at 8 p.m. inside the Dedmon Center in Radford, Va.

UNC Asheville hosted Charleston Southern in the first round of the Big South Championships Tuesday night and took down the Buccaneers with a final score of 82-46. The 36-point victory was fueled by a Big South first round record 12 made three-pointers by the Bulldogs. UNC Asheville made eight threes in the first half, which is also a Big South first round record, as they scored 41 points through the first 20 minutes of play.

Brooke Jordan-Brown led the Bulldogs with 18 points in the first round game but it was Tamiah Lewis who stole the show as the junior guard scored a career-high 15 points while shooting 5-6 from behind the three-point line. Lewis' five made three-pointers is the most anyone has ever made in a Big South first round game and her 83.3 three-point field goal percentage ties the mark for the highest ever in a Big South Tournament game.

High Point claimed the No. 3 seed in the Big South Championships with a 14-6 conference record in the regular season. The Panthers received a first round bye and have not played since defeating the Bulldogs in the regular season finale last Saturday.

The Bulldogs and the Panthers split the regular season matchups in the 2019-20 season as UNC Asheville defeated High Point inside Kimmel Arena on Jan. 9 by a score of 76-60. High Point hit 16 three-pointers versus the Bulldogs on March 7 as they defeated UNC Asheville 89-62 to close out the regular season.
