Bulldogs to Host USC Upstate for Senior Day on Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's basketball will take on USC Upstate in a 2 p.m. matchup. Saturday, February 22, inside Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs will honor their four seniors prior to the game. Saturday's game will also be UNC Asheville's homecoming with the Bulldogs' men's team taking on Presbyterian at 4:30.
The game will be sponsored by Biltmore Farms Hotels.
UNC Asheville will retire the jersey of Sheila Ford Duncan at halftime of the women's game and also recognize the 1984 NAIA National Championship team. To learn more about Sheila Ford Duncan's jersey retirement, please click HERE.
UNC Asheville (14-11, 8-8) has played to an 8-8 record in Big South Conference play. Four of the Bulldogs eight victories have come from inside Kimmel Arena as UNC Asheville has defeated Presbyterian, Campbell, High Point and Winthrop at home.
The Bulldogs defeated USC Upstate in the Hodge Center for their first Big South road win of the season before taking down preseason favorite Radford inside the Dedmon Center a few days later. The Bulldogs grabbed another victory on the road as they defeated Winthrop, 50-43, inside the Winthrop Coliseum on Jan. 28. The Bulldogs' latest road victory took place, Feb. 11, as UNC Asheville defeated Presbyterian.
Since conference play began on Dec. 28, two Bulldogs have averaged a double-digit point total as Nadiria Evans has scored 14.6 points per game in conference play while redshirt senior Sonora Dengokl is currently averaging 13.2 points per game through the first 12 Big South games of the season. Brooke Jordan-Brown is leading the Big South Conference with 12.2 rebounds a game since conference play began.
USC Upstate has played to a 3-12 Big South record and are 8-16 overall. The Spartans have defeated Charleston Southern twice and took down Presbyterian at home. USC Upstate fell to the Bulldogs by 20 during the first week of January in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Bulldogs sit atop the Big South in all three categories. The Bulldogs have won or tied in the rebounding battle in 23 of their 25 games this season.
- UNC Asheville is 24th in the nation in fewest points allowed and is currently second in the Big South in the category. UNC Asheville has allowed 60 points or less in all 14 of their victories this season.
