GAME NOTES (PDF)

ASHEVILLE, N.C.
 – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will open its Big South schedule this weekend with back-to-back games at High Point on Saturday and Sunday. Tip-off for both games is set for 2 p.m.

Last Time Out – Asheville came up on the losing side of a 69-60 on the road at South Carolina State last Saturday. The loss pushed UNC Asheville's record to 1-4.

Nadiria Note – Despite the loss to South Carolina State, Nadiria Evans scored a career-high 28 points on 12-for-16 shooting from the field to pace the Bulldog offense. Evans, who is closing in on the 1,000-point mark, currently ranks second in the league in scoring averaging 18.4 points per contest.

Carter Collecting Rebounds – Kai Carter has been Asheville's top rebounder lately as she leads the team averaging 7.2 rebounds per game. Furthermore, Carter has set new single-game highs for rebounding on three different occasions, including an 11-rebound effort at SC State Saturday.

Beginning Big South Play – Even in the unique season that is the 2020-21 campaign, importance on conference games remains unchanged. Asheville has won its Big South opener in two of the last three seasons, including a 54-39 win over Presbyterian last December. This weekend will serve as a new challenge for the Bulldogs, however, as the conference schedule will consist of back-to-back games against the same opponent on back-to-back days in an effort to cut down travel during the coronavirus pandemic.

About High Point – This weekend also marks the beginning of conference play for High Point. The Panthers, who are 2-3 in 2020-21, have played four of their first five games at home. Individually, HPU is led by the Big South's leading scorer in Skyler Curran (20.6 PPG). Curran isn't the only scoring threat from the Panthers though as Jenson Edwards (16.2 PPG) and Jordan Edwards (13.3 PPG) are also averaging over 13 points thus far.

Series Rewind vs. Opponent – The series between Asheville and High Point has been a competitive one as of late, as the two teams have split the season series in each of the past three seasons. HPU, which has won 39 of the 55 all-time meetings, won the last time these two programs matched up defeating the Bulldogs, 89-62.

How to Follow – Both Saturday's and Sunday's games can be watched via ESPN+. Live stats will also be available for each contest HERE.
