Nkadi Joins UNC Asheville Women’s Soccer Program

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's soccer head coach Clifton Bush announced the addition of Ava Nkadi recently.
A 5-foot-11 defender, Nkadi joins the Bulldogs after spending one year at Saint Mary's in California. She is a native of El Dorado Hills, Calif.
Nkadi is the first new player to officially commit to join the UNC Asheville women's soccer program since Bush was hired as head coach in April.
"Ava is everything we want in a Bulldog," Bush said. "Her athleticism, versatility, composure and competitive spirit will help us from day one. More than that, Ava is a student-athlete who shares the values of our program. From the moment she stepped on campus she began building strong relationships with the team and university community. A great fit and addition to the UNC Asheville family."
Before joining Saint Mary's, Nkadi was a multi-sport athlete at Oak Ridge High School, running cross country and track in addition to being a standout soccer player. She played her club soccer for the Galaxy Blues FC. Nkadi was also a CIF State Finalist in the 4x400 relay in track & field in 2016.
In 2015, Soccer Wire named her as a "Player to Watch." The same year she also placed into the US National Team Player Pool during. She trained at the US Soccer Training Center in 2014 and 2015.
Nkadi was also a CIF State Finalist in the 4x400 relay in 2016.
Nkadi is thrilled to be a Bulldog.
"I knew that UNC Asheville was the place for me once I acquainted myself with the coaching staff, players and the beautiful campus in and of itself," Nkadi said. "I am beyond excited to further my education at an elite academic institution, while being able to play the sport that I love at a D1 level."
