Women’s Tennis to Host Hampton on Saturday as Part of UNC Asheville Senior Day Tennis Doubleheader

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team returns home after four straight road matches in the last two and a half weeks to host Hampton on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m.
The match will be played at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown and will be a part of a doubleheader with the UNC Asheville men's tennis team playing at 1 p.m.
UNC Asheville women's tennis is 6-8 on the season and 1-6 in the Big South Conference. The Bulldogs have played exceptionally well on their home courts, playing to a 6-2 record. The Bulldogs won five of their first six matches that were played at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
BULLDOG BITES
Senior Day
UNC Asheville women's tennis will celebrate its four seniors following the match on Saturday. This group will include Kylee Shipley, Hannah Francisco, Christin Louw and Madeline Finley. Each of these ladies have been a part of Bulldog tennis for the last four seasons.
To this point in her career, Shipley has picked up 40 singles wins while playing in a Bulldog uniform. Francisco has picked up 23 singles wins in her four seasons. In doubles, the duo of Shipley and Francisco have teamed up for 33 wins, playing together in all four seasons of their Bulldog careers.
Christin Louw has picked up 32 singles victories to this point in her Bulldog career. The Johannesburg, South Africa native has also won 30 doubles matches playing with various partners throughout her career. Finley has four career singles wins. She has seen most of her action this season where she has three wins.
After Saturday's matchup the Bulldogs will have one remaining regular season match in the 2019 season.
Scouting Hampton
Hampton has a 2-11 overall record and is 0-5 in the Big South Conference. The Pirates have lost three straight matches with two of those being to conference foes Winthrop and Gardner-Webb. They opened the 2019 season with seven straight losses. Hampton will face Longwood on Friday, April 5, before their matchup with the Bulldogs on Saturday.
