Harris Blasts Home Run in Bulldog Loss to High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – UNC Asheville rallied late, but High Point secured a 10-2 victory over the Bulldogs in the series opener at Williard Stadium.
High Point (18-19, 11-8 Big South) scored the first nine runs in the game before the Bulldogs (14-27, 8-11 Big South) battled back by scoring two of the last three runs in the game to set the final score at 10-2.
Kole Harris secured the first run of the day for the Bulldogs in the top of the eighth inning when he belted a solo home run to left field. The home run was the first of the season for Harris.
The Bulldogs added another run in the top of the ninth inning. Colin Macko got things rolling in the inning for the Bulldogs when he doubled to right field.
A couple of batters later, Wade Chandler doubled Macko home.
High Point out-hit the Bulldogs, 11-4, in the contest. Danny Wilson had the other Bulldog hit on the day.
Brady Pearre led High Point with three hits.
Jordan Carr suffered the loss on the hill for the Bulldogs. He was one of four Bulldog pitchers used in the contest with Carr, Trey Jernigan, Ethan Tressler and David Dobson combining for five strikeouts. Dobson had two strikeouts.
High Point starter Harrison Smith earned the win on the mound for High Point. He pitched the first 6.2 innings.
UNC Asheville and High Point will play the second game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Williard Stadium.
