Women’s Tennis Match at Kennesaw State Postponed

KENNESAW, Ga. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis match scheduled for Friday at Kennesaw State has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather.
Yesterday the Bulldogs faced off against Big South Conference rival Charleston Southern at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown. The Bulldogs picked up their first conference win of the season and their first win over the Buccaneers since the 2009 season with a 4-3 victory.
The Bulldogs took the doubles point on the heels of an amazing comeback effort by Kylee Shipley and Lauren Watson-Steele at No. 3. The duo found themselves in a 4-1 hole before fighting to erase the deficit and pick up a 6-4 victory.
UNC Asheville had to fight for every point versus the Buccaneers, who answered back with two quick singles victory to erase the Bulldogs lead. Lize Alet Morkel tied the match for the Bulldogs with a win at No. 1.
Shipley, at No. 5, and Taylor Love, at No. 3, each had to fight through three back and forth sets to claim the essential third and fourth wins for the Bulldogs to clinch the 4-3 victory.
The Bulldogs are 6-4 on the season and 1-2 in the Big South Conference.
The Bulldogs next will have four straight conference road matches versus Longwood, Campbell, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian. The first of these will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, when the Bulldogs face Longwood in Longwood, Va.
