ROCK HILL, S.C. – Following a 51-45 home victory over Presbyterian on Tuesday, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team opens another two-game road swing beginning on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Winthrop.
The league contest will start at 2 p.m. and will be streamed on BSN on ESPN+.

The Bulldogs travel to Winthrop with a 12-11 overall record and a 7-5 mark in Big South Conference games. In its last nine games, UNC Asheville is 7-2.
In its last head-to-head game (versus Presbyterian on Feb. 12), UNC Asheville used a 20-14 advantage in the third quarter to lift the Bulldogs to a 51-45 victory over the Blue Hose. Three Bulldogs scored in double figures in Jessica Wall, Tiffany Wilson and Ali Trani. Wall and Wilson each totaled 12 points, as they combined for nine field goals, seven assists and five rebounds. Trani added 10 points on two made field goals. The senior guard also connected on five free throws. Zip Scott just missed on a double-digit performance, as she netted nine points. Juliet Esadah, who earned her first start of the season, grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds matched a career-best mark as well.
With its fifth straight home win, the Bulldogs move to an impressive 10-1 record inside Kimmel Arena. Leading the offensive surge for Asheville is Sonora Dengokl and Jessica Wall. Dengokl, who has started eight games at home, is averaging 15.6 points per game. Wall has started 10 games and averages 13.0 ppg. Four other Bulldogs – Nadiria Evans (9.3 ppg), Scott (7.8 ppg), Trani (5.4 ppg) and Wilson (5.0 ppg) – are all averaging five or more points per game this season at home. Following her 11-rebound performance versus PC, Esadah paces Asheville with a 5.7 rebounding average, and Brooke Jordan-Brown is right behind her with a 5.4 rebounding average. Jordan-Brown has a team-best 47 total defensive rebounds at home this season.
Scouting Winthrop
Winthrop entertains the Bulldogs with a 10-13 overall mark and 6-6 record in league games. Since playing the Bulldogs on Feb. 2, the Eagles are 1-1 with their lone win being a 62-54 victory over PC.
The Eagles have two main offensive threats in Kem Nwabudu and Jah'Che Whitfield. Nwabudu, who has started all 23 games, has a team-best 9.4 scoring average. Whitfield is right behind her with a 9.1 ppg average.
On the defensive side, Nwabudu leads the team in total blocks with 28. Maleeah Langstaff is second on the team with 10 blocks. Anika Riley paces the squad in rebounds per game with a 7.4 average. She has corralled a team-best 51 offensive rebounds, while Nwabudu is right behind her with 47 total offensive boards.
All-Time History Versus the Eagles
Saturday's meeting will be the 75th all-time head-to-head meeting between the Bulldogs and Eagles. The Bulldogs have won seven straight head-to-head games, despite Winthrop holding a 39-35 advantage in all-time meetings.
In the last head-to-head game, UNC Asheville downed the Eagles by 34 points, 70-36. UNC Asheville's defense held Winthrop to eight or fewer points in the first three quarters, including limiting the Eagles to five points in the second stanza. Four Bulldogs tallied double-digit performances, as Scott led the way with 14 points. Jordan-Brown was right behind her with 13 points and seven rebounds.
