ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's tennis returns home this week to host Emmanuel on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
UNC Asheville women's tennis began the season going 4-1 in five straight home matches before falling to UNCG last week in its first road match of the season. The Bulldogs will enter Wednesday having won three straight home matches dating back to Jan. 29.
BULLDOG BITES
Freshman Standout
UNC Asheville women's tennis freshman standout Lize Alet Morkel was chosen as the Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.
The honor is the second from the league that Morkel has received this season. A mid-year enrollee, Morkel was also named conference Player of the Week on Jan. 23, 2019.
On the season, Morkel is undefeated at 5-0 in singles. She has played all of her matches at No. 1 singles.
Inaugural Tennis Kickoff Reception a Huge Success
The UNC Asheville tennis programs are an incredibly important part of the athletics department and the Asheville community, but there is always room for more people to learn about Bulldog tennis.
For this reason, UNC Asheville tennis held their inaugural Tennis Kickoff Reception at the home of Ron and Nancy Edgerton.
The event was a special meet and greet designed to allow individuals to learn more about the UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis student-athletes and coaches.
