Bulldogs Travel to Hampton for New Year’s Eve Matchup with Pirates

HAMPTON, Va. - UNC Asheville women's basketball will play their second Big South Conference game of the season when they tipoff versus Hampton at noon, Tuesday, December 31.
UNC Asheville will be looking to improve to 2-0 in Big South Conference play after defeating Presbyterian, 54-39, Saturday. Zip Scott scored in double-figures for the third time this season while Brooke Jordan-Brown corralled a career-high 23 rebounds. UNC Asheville secured a season-high 51 rebounds in the victory.
UNC Asheville (7-3, 1-0) was the only team in the Big South to secure six nonconference victories in their nine games. The Bulldogs' six wins were highlighted by road victories against ETSU and Western Carolina. Kimmel Arena once again proved to be kind to the Bulldogs as UNC Asheville secured three wins on their home court with victories against Lenoir-Rhyne, Montreat and South Carolina State. UNC Asheville played to a 12-3 record inside Kimmel Arena last season. UNC Asheville wrapped its nonconference wins with a neutral site victory against Southern last week.
Hampton opened Big South Conference play last Saturday on the road and was upset by Winthrop in a 72-66 loss. The Pirates played to a 4-5 nonconference record that was highlighted by a win against Alabama to open the season. Hampton has yet to secure a win on their home court this season.
The Bulldogs and the Pirates have matched up only twice with last season being Hampton's first in the Big South Conference. Their first meeting was in the 1995-96 season in which resulted in a Pirates victory in Hampton, Va. Last season the two programs met only once inside Kimmel Arena where Hampton once again defeated the Bulldogs 61-58.

UNC Asheville will open the New Year by taking on Campbell, Saturday, January 4, inside Kimmel Arena.
