Bulldogs Open Big South Play by Hosting Presbyterian Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's basketball will be back inside Kimmel Arena for their first Big South Conference matchup of the season with a 2 p.m. tipoff, Saturday, December 28, versus the Blue Hose of Presbyterian.
The Bulldogs concluded their nonconference schedule last weekend with a 1-1 finish in the Miami Holiday Classic. Nadiria Evans was named to the All-Tournament team while scoring 28 points in two games, including 16 in UNC Asheville's win against Southern. Â Â
UNC Asheville was the only team in the Big South to secure six nonconference victories in their nine games. The Bulldogs' six wins were highlighted by road victories against ETSU and Western Carolina. Kimmel Arena once again proved to be kind to the Bulldogs as UNC Asheville secured three wins on their home court with victories against Lenoir-Rhyne, Montreat and South Carolina State. UNC Asheville played to a 12-3 record inside Kimmel Arena last season. UNC Asheville wrapped its nonconference wins with a neutral site victory against Southern last week.
Presbyterian closed out their nonconference season with a 4-5 record. The Blue Hose picked up three home wins versus William Peace, College of Charleston and Brevard. Presbyterian managed to secure only one road win with a season-opening victory against South Carolina State.
The Bulldogs have the advantage over the Blue Hose all-time as UNC Asheville holds the 15-12 series lead. UNC Asheville won the first five matchups between the two programs with the first taking place in the 2006-07 season. The Bulldogs have won nine of the last 14 matchups with the Blue Hose dating back to the 2013-14 season. UNC Asheville went 2-0 versus Presbyterian last season.

- Nadiria Evans was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance in the Bulldogs' two games last weekend in the Miami Holiday Classic. The junior guard totaled 28 points in the tournament while hitting nine field goals and making nine free throws. She hit seven free throws in the win against Southern.
- UNC Asheville currently ranks 12th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and 23rd in rebounding margin. UNC Asheville is also 62nd in total rebounds per game. The Bulldogs sit atop the Big South in all three categories. The Bulldogs have not been outrebounded by their opponent in a single game this season.
- UNC Asheville is 27th in the nation in fewest points allowed in the nation and is currently tops in the Big South in the category. UNC Asheville has allowed 60 points or less in six of their nine games this season.
- Evonna McGill has recorded a block in four of the last five games and six of the nine total games this season.
- Brooke Jordan-Brown has had a double-digit rebounding total in three games this season.
