Three Bulldogs Earn Singles Victories at First Day of Wofford Fall Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Three Bulldogs picked up singles victories as UNC Asheville's women's tennis team competed in the first day of the Wofford Fall Invitational, Friday.
Additionally, the doubles pairing of Ami Grace Dougah and Taylor Love advanced to Saturday's semifinal matchup in the Black Doubles bracket, as they defeated Jordyn King and Jacy Smith of Western Carolina, 6-3.
Dougah also had a strong showing in her singles quarterfinal match in the Gold Singles bracket, taking down Miljana Ristic of Gardner-Webb, 6-3, 6-2.
Lauren Watson-Steele had an absolute battle in her quarterfinal matchup against Gardner-Webb's Mayumi Saguchi. After dropping the first set, 6-4, she rebounded in the second set, but it didn't come easily, as Watson-Steele forced a third set with a 7-6 (7) result in the second set. She advanced to Saturday's semifinal after taking a wild third set, 12-10.
Anastasia Horvat earned a dominating, 6-0, 6-0, victory against unattached Taylor Parrott in the Terrier Singles round-robin division.
The Bulldogs will take to the courts, Saturday, in the second day of action, beginning at 10 a.m.
