JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – UNC Asheville women's basketball will hit the road for a matchup with the second of three straight Southern conference members, Saturday, November 23, when they battle with the Buccaneers of ETSU. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. inside Brooks Gym in Johnson City, Tenn.

The Bulldogs have begun the 2019-20 season with a 2-0 record for the first time since the 2005-06 season when UNC Asheville jumped out to a 3-0 start. UNC Asheville defeated Lenoir-Rhyne, 68-48, inside Kimmel Arena to open the season before downing the Catamounts of Western Carolina, 64-47, on Monday inside the Ramsey Center.

Three Bulldogs scored in double figures in the win against Lenoir-Rhyne. Sonora Dengokl led the way with 17 while Zip Scott followed with 11 and Nadiria Evans with 10. Scott scored nine of her 11 points in the second half while Evans put up eight of her 10 points in the final quarter of the game. Scott led the Bulldogs with a career-high eight rebounds.

In the win over Western Carolina on Monday, the Bulldogs once again had three double digit scorers with junior Amaryah Corpening leading the way with a new career high of 11. Brooke Jordan-Brown secured her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the game. Zip Scott is the only Bulldog with a double-digit point total in both games this season as she also put up 10 in the win against Western Carolina.

ETSU has played to a 1-4 record so far in the 2019-20 season. The Bucs opened with a four point loss to Tennessee before claiming their first win of the season with a 63-62 victory against Liberty. They have since fallen in three straight games to High Point, North Carolina A&T and Radford.

ETSU holds the advantage over the Bulldogs all-time but it was UNC Asheville who came away with the 56-55 victory last season inside Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs will look to win two in a row against the Bucs for the first time in history Saturday.
