Three Bulldogs Earn Singles Victories at Georgia Southern Fall Shootout

STATESBORO, Ga. – Three Bulldogs picked up singles victories as UNC Asheville's women's tennis team competed in the first day of the Georgia Southern Fall Shootout, Friday.

Senior Emily Sidor had a strong showing in the first round of play of the GATA Singles bracket, defeating Aspen Jarrett of Kennesaw State, 6-0, 6-2. Junior Anastasia Horvat also won in straight sets, taking down KSU's Juliana Castellanos, 6-4, 6-3, in the ERK Singles bracket.

Freshman Ami Grace Dougah earned a hard-fought victory in the True Blue Singles bracket, defeating Arkansas States Pornpawee Pramethong, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Dougah, Horvat and Sidor will play in the semifinal round of their respective brackets, Saturday.

Taylor Love and Brianna Taranto fell in their singles matches, Friday, and will compete in the back draw of their brackets, Saturday.

Love and Dougah teamed up in doubles competition, but fell to Florida A&M's pairing, while Sidor and Taranto fell to Nadja Meier and Paula Hijos from the home team.
