BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – With only one day of rest between league games, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Thursday, Jan. 10, as the Bulldogs travel to Gardner-Webb for a 6 p.m. start inside Paul Porter Arena.
The Big South Conference contest will be streamed on BSN on ESPN+.

UNC Asheville travels to GWU with a 5-8 overall record and a 0-2 mark in league games.
In UNC Asheville's last contest, the Bulldogs fell to first-year Big South member Hampton, 61-58. Three Bulldogs scored in double digits, with Jessica Wall leading the way with 22 points. The senior guard connected on six 3-pointers and also tallied four assists and four rebounds. Sonora Dengokl and Nadiria Evans were the other two Bulldogs to have double-digit performances with 13 and 10-point performances, respectively. In 15 minutes of play, junior Brooke Jordan-Brown had a team-best six rebounds.
On the year, Dengokl leads Asheville with 13.2 points per game (ppg), while Wall is right behind her with 10.3 ppg. Dengokl has tallied eight double-digit games, and Wall has posted six double-digit performances, including three straight games with 12 or more points.
Jordan-Brown continues to lead the Bulldogs with 4.8 rebounds per game. The junior also has a team-best nine blocks this year. Fellow teammate Tiffany Wilson has six blocks this season, which is highlighted by a two-block game versus the Lady Pirates.

Gardner-Webb welcomes UNC Asheville to Paul Porter Arena with a 7-6 overall record and a 1-0 mark in Big South games. The Runnin' Bulldogs have won three straight games – Campbell, Western Carolina and Converse.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are led by the Plentovich sisters – Carley and Savannah Plentovich. Carley Plentovich has a team-best 12.1 ppg, while Savannah Plentovich is averaging 11.5 ppg. Between the two sisters, they have combined for 295 points, 50 steals, 43 assists, 118 rebounds, 43 three-pointers made, 92 field goals made and 720 minutes of play.
Aside from the two Runnin' Bulldogs, Ky'Asia Stanford is a threat offensively, as the senior guard is averaging 8.7 ppg and has a team-best 37 total assists.
Defensively, Gabrielle Caponegro leads GWU with 6.6 rebounds per contest. The 6-foot forward has a team-best 20 blocks to go along with her 82 points this season. Savannah Plentovich is Gardner-Webb's second leading rebounder with 5.4 rebounds per game.
All-Time History Versus the Runnin' Bulldogs
Thursday's contest will mark the 31st all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Runnin' Bulldogs. Last year the two Bulldog clubs met on the hardwood twice, and UNC Asheville won both games two or fewer points.
The last time the two teams met was in the regular season finale, and UNC Asheville won 62-60 inside Kimmel Arena. Bronaza Fitzgerald had a team-best 19 points, while Wall (15) and Khaila Webb (13) also had double-digit performances. Fitzgerald posted a double-double, as she also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
In the last game inside Paul Porter Arena, the Bulldogs edged the Runnin' Bulldogs by one point, 61-60. Webb scored the game-winning field goal with five seconds left en route to a 13-point performance. Fitzgerald posted yet another double-double, as she totaled 20 points and 14 boards. Wall added 14 points, as she netted four 3-pointers.
