ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Playing its fourth game in seven days, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team hosts Campbell on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. inside Kimmel Arena.

The Big South Conference contest will be streamed on BSN on ESPN+.

About UNC Asheville

UNC Asheville welcomes Campbell to Kimmel Arena with a 5-9 overall mark and a 0-3 record in league contests. 

In its last game, UNC Asheville fell to Gardner-Webb on the road, 69-59. Senior guard Jessica Wall totaled a team-best 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting. The Chapel Hill, N.C. native was a perfect 4-for-4 inside the three-point arc. Juliet Esadah had a career game, as the junior totaled a single-game best 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Jimeshia Lawson was Asheville's team leader in rebounds, as she matched a single-game best with nine rebounds. Five of those came on the offensive glass. Brooke Jordan-Brown added seven boards, including five defensive rebounds. 

On the year, Sonora Dengokl leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 180 total points (12.9 points per game). She has started in all 14 games and averages 28.8 minutes per game. After her 14-point performance at Gardner-Webb, Wall now averages 10.6 points per game and 31.4 minutes per contest. 

Jordan-Brown increased her rebound per game average following her seven-rebound game against GWU, as the center now averages 4.9. Lawson also improved her rebound per game average, which is now 3.8. 

Scouting Campbell

Campbell travels to Kimmel Arena with a 10-4 overall record and a 2-1 mark in Big South games. In their last four games, the Camels are 3-1 with wins over Columbia College, Presbyterian and Charleston Southern. Their only league loss this year was a 52-38 loss to GWU.

The Camels' offense is led by freshman Lauren Carter, who averages nine points per contest. Five other Camels average six points or more per game - Taya Bolden (8.3), Kyra Davis (7.6), Shy Tuelle (7.1), Hayley Barber (6.2) and Ashlyn Hampton (6.0). Four Campbell players have scored 100 or more points this year.

Bolden is Campbell's leading rebounder, as she averages 8.4 rebounds per game. Of her 118 total boards, 41 rebounds have come on the offensive glass. Davis is the second leading rebounder with 5.9 rebounds per game.

All-Time History Versus the Camels

Saturday's contest will mark the 42nd all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Camels. UNC Asheville has won four straight contests against Campbell, including a pair of victories in the Big South Conference Tournament. 

Last year the two clubs met in the Big South Conference Tournament, where Asheville upended the Camels by five points - 47-42. Bronaza Fitzgerald and Khaila Webb posted double-digit performances. Fitzgerald had a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds, and Webb posted 13 points in 35 minutes of action.

In last year's game inside Kimmel Arena, UNC Asheville won a defensive battle over Campbell, 38-33. The Bulldog defense held Campbell to nine points or fewer in all four quarters in the home matchup. Fitzgerald connected with 12 of the 38 points for Asheville, as she drilled five field goals. She also grabbed nine of the team's 44 rebounds. Zip Scott and Webb combined for 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs will play their fifth game in 10 days on Tuesday, Jan. 15, as they travel to USC Upstate. The two teams will tip off at 6 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C., and the head-to-head contest will be streamed on BSN on ESPN+.
