ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Mike Morrell announced the addition of 6-foot-7 forward Jax Levitch on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

Levitch makes his way to UNC Asheville after spending his first two seasons at Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne. He will sit out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA Division I transfer rules.

"We are excited to have Jax join our family," Morrell said. "He is a great shooter and at 6-foot-7 he brings size as a forward that can do a little bit of everything. We look forward to introducing him to Bulldogs everywhere."

The younger brother of former Louisville men's basketball player David Levitch, Jax Levitch played his high school basketball at Trinity High School in Louisville, Ky. before spending a postgraduate year at the Elev8 Sports Institute. Strong from beyond the arc, Levitch knocked down 44 three-pointers as a senior at Trinity High School.

As a sophomore at Fort Wayne this past season, Levitch started all 33 games for the Mastodons. He averaged 5.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He shot 42 percent from the field overall and over 43 percent from beyond the arc.

Levitch scored a season-best 14 points to go along with six rebounds and one assist in Fort Wayne's 75-64 win over a team that Levitch will see quite a bit over the next few years in Liberty on Dec. 21, 2017, at the New Orleans Shootout.

As a freshman in the 2016-17 season, Levitch played in 25 games and was named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll for his efforts on the court and in the classroom.

Levitch joins 6-foot-2, 175-pound combo guard Cress Worthy as the latest to join the UNC Asheville men's basketball program.

They join a UNC Asheville men's basketball program coming off its second straight regular-season Big South Conference championship and third straight postseason appearance with the Bulldogs playing in the 2018 National Invitation Tournament.

UNC Asheville men's basketball picked up its seventh Big South Conference regular-season title (1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2016-17 and 2017-18) this past season.

The Bulldogs continued to set the standard in the Big South this past season by becoming the first program in league history to win 15 games or more for 11 straight seasons. The Bulldogs have also now won 10 or more league games in a season in a Big South men's basketball record 11 straight seasons.
