UNC Asheville Concludes Regular Season at Appalachian State Last Chance Meet

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To conclude the outdoor regular season, the UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams wrap up the season on April 28 at the Appalachian State Last Chance Meet in Boone, N.C.
Last Time Out
To highlight the Duke Invitational last weekend, Hunter Koike broke the program record in the men's 400m for the second straight week. In Durham, N.C., the senior clocked a 49.28, which bested the previous best mark by 0.16 seconds. Tyree McFalling also broke the school record (49.30), but he was outdone by Koike by 0.02 seconds.
Dominic Collichio finished third in the men's 5000m, as he clocked a 14:54.18. His time was just over a second and a half from matching the second-place finisher.
On the women's side of the 5000m, Phoebe Schneider finished sixth out of 47 total runners. The senior clocked a 17:54.74, which shattered her previous-best mark by nearly 29 seconds. Kelley Coleman finished five spots behind her teammate, as she also set a new career-best time (18:09.53).
On the final day of the two-day meet, Kayli Nichols finished sixth out of 44 runners in the women's 400mH. She posted a 1:02.12 time, which was only over a second away from matching the third-place finisher.
The men's 4 x 100m relay team also had a strong performance, as the four Bulldogs clocked a 42.50 in the event. The time was only 0.18 seconds away from matching the program record.
Freshman jumper Victor Mathuthu earned a top-10 finish, as he placed seventh in the men's triple jump. He made a leap of 14.45m, which was only 0.14m away from matching the school record that he set earlier at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational.
About The Meet
The ASU Last Chance meet is a one-day meet and will be held at the Kidd Brewer Stadium.
The first two events of the meet are the men's and women's 5000m, as both begin at 10:30 a.m. The first field event of the one-day meet is the men's and women's pole vault.
The meet will conclude with the men's and women's 4 x 400m relay at 4:30 p.m.
