Three Bulldogs Honored by Big South Conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three UNC Asheville women's tennis student-athletes earned All-Big South honors on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco for the second straight season earned all-league honors in doubles, while Shipley garnered singles all-conference honors for the second year in a row as well. Francisco is now a three-time all-conference selection.
Emily Sidor was chosen to the Big South Women's Tennis All-Academic Team.
Shipley and Francisco closed out the regular season with a 14-5 overall record at No. 1 doubles. The duo had four wins in league play. The 14 wins were the second-most among all duos in the Big South playing at No. 1 doubles.
Shipley finished the regular season with a team-best 12 wins in singles with 11 of her 12 wins coming at No. 1 singles. She had four wins in league play.
Sidor won nine straight matches in singles from Feb. 16-March 13. Overall, Sidor finished the regular season with 10 wins in singles. The sophomore Accounting major owns a 3.848 grade-point average.
UNC Asheville women's tennis will open the 2018 Big South Women's Tennis Championship on Thursday, April 19, at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
UNC Asheville (9-10, 2-6 Big South Conference) is the seventh seed in the championship. The Bulldogs will take on second-seeded Liberty (16-8, 7-1 Big South Conference) in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 19.
