Bulldogs Head to South Carolina to Compete in the 2018 Big South Championship

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To open postseason play, the UNC Asheville women's golf team travels to Ninety Six, S.C. to compete in the two-day 2018 Big South Women's Golf Championship at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor.

To cap off the regular season, the Bulldogs recorded their first-ever sub-300 round score at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. UNC Asheville carded an 11-over 299 in the second round at the Mimosa Hills Golf Course in Morganton, N.C.
On top of the record-breaking team performance, two Bulldogs – sophomore Adelyn Deery and freshman Taylor Hinson – inked the program's first-ever sub-par round. Both Bulldogs carded a 1-under 71 in the second round of the tournament. Hinson finished the tournament tied for fourth, which is the third top-10 finish for the Belmont, N.C. native, and Deery placed tied for 21st, which marked the third top-25 finish for the Lancaster, Pa. native.
At the conclusion of the regular season, UNC Asheville averaged a 310.59 round team average, which was nearly nine strokes better than last year's inaugural season.
Individually, Hinson paced the seven-person team, as she averaged a 76.41 scoring average. Deery had the second-best team average, as the sophomore averaged a 78.41. Becca Black and Janie Thomas rounded out the best scoring averages for Asheville, as they averaged a 79.05 and 79.27, respectively.
Previewing the 2018 Big South Championship
For the 10th straight season, The Patriot Golf Club is hosting the two-day, 54-hole outing. The course is a par-72, 6,175-yard layout, and this season, Winthrop is hosting the conference tournament. The tournament commences on Friday, April 13, and will conclude on Saturday, April 14.
The 2018 champion will receive the Big South's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
All teams will open the first round on hole one with the first three teams teeing off at 8 a.m. No. 6 UNC Asheville starts its opening round at 8:50 a.m., as it will be paired with No. 4 High Point and No. 5 Presbyterian.
