ELON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team closed out its 2018 regular season with a 5-2 loss at Elon on Tuesday, April 10.
The match commenced with Elon (14-7) taking the doubles point over UNC Asheville (7-12).
Despite losing the point, the UNC Asheville No. 2 doubles duo of Oli Nolan and Edward Colclough won their seventh straight with a 6-3 win over Felipe Sarrasague and Salvador Mijares.
UNC Asheville claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles.
Nationally 76th-ranked Henry Patten closed out his regular season with his eighth straight victory. Patten defeated Mario Paccini 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to collect his 11th singles win of the season.
At No. 5 singles, Andrew Sinai garnered a 2-6, 6-3, retired victory over Camilo Ponce.
UNC Asheville men's tennis will next travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Big South Men's Tennis Championship that gets underway on Monday, April 16.
