Bulldogs Fall in Narrow 4-3 League Loss to Longwood

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team had its winning streak snapped in a narrow 4-3 Big South Conference loss to Longwood on Saturday, March 31, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
UNC Asheville (7-9, 2-3 Big South Conference) opened the match by taking the doubles point over Longwood (10-8, 3-4 Big South Conference).
The No. 1 doubles duo for UNC Asheville of Henry Patten and Olly Cull improved to a perfect 10-0 with a 6-2 win over Longwood's Jorge Godoy and Valentin Popescu. At No. 2 doubles, Edward Colclough and Oli Nolan won their fourth straight in a hard-fought 7-5 win over Longwood's Raisei Sakai and Amadeo Blasco.
UNC Asheville's Finlay Ray McFadyen and James Massie garnered a 6-2 win over Julian Farthing and Lachlan Manser at No. 3 doubles.
Currently ranked 69th nationally, Patten won his fifth straight in singles with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 win over Blasco at No. 1 singles.
UNC Asheville's Edward Colclough earned a 6-4, 7-6 win over Sakai at No. 3 singles.
UNC Asheville men's tennis will next welcome Gardner-Webb to the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown for a 3 p.m. league matchup on Thursday, April 5.
