ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's tennis picked up a thrilling 4-3 Big South Conference victory over preseason league favorite Presbyterian College on Wednesday, March 28, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.

Freshman Oli Nolan secured the win for the Bulldogs at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Presbyterian College's Brandon Mills. Nolan fought back in the third set to win the final five games of the set to secure his third straight singles win and, more importantly, the match for the Bulldogs.

The match commenced with UNC Asheville (7-8, 2-2 Big South Conference) taking what proved to be a pivotal doubles point over Presbyterian College (5-12, 1-2 Big South Conference).

The Bulldogs claimed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, the UNC Asheville unbeaten tandem of Henry Patten and Olly Cull were up in their match, but with the point already secured, the match was left unfinished. Cull and Patten are 9-0 in doubles play this season.

At No. 2 doubles, Edward Colclough and Nolan emerged with a 6-3 win over Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Alejandro Bejar of Presbyterian College, while Finlay Ray McFadyen and James Massie garnered a 6-4 win over Daniel Stenger and Will Baird at No. 3 doubles.

UNC Asheville picked up wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles to earn its second conference win of the season.

The reigning Big South Player of the Week, Patten collected an easy 6-2, 6-1 win over Alexander Lykou at No. 1 singles. The nationally 69th-ranked Patten has now won four straight singles matches.

UNC Asheville's Andrew Sinai collected his second consecutive singles win with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Luis Conde at No. 6 singles.
