Bulldogs Pick Up Dominating League Win Over Longwood on Friday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team continued its winning ways at home with a dominating 7-0 Big South Conference victory over Longwood on Friday, March 23, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
UNC Asheville (9-5, 2-1 Big South Conference) opened the match by taking the doubles point over Longwood (5-6, 0-5 Big South Conference) with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco collected their fifth straight win at No. 1 doubles with a 6-3 win over Marija Venta and Julia Candiotto of Longwood. The Bulldog No. 1 doubles duo is now 12-2 on the year.
At No. 2 doubles, Christin Louw and Lauren Watson-Steele picked up their eighth win as a duo with a 6-0 victory over Jamie Breunig and Kaori Terunuma.
UNC Asheville from there would go on to sweep all six singles flights with three of the six wins in straight sets.
Shipley and Emily Sidor both picked up their 10th singles wins of the season with come-from-behind wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
UNC Asheville will next close out the weekend by playing host to Big South Conference foe Winthrop at 2Â p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
