ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will recognize its two seniors,  Bronaza Fitzgerald and Khaila Webb, on Saturday, as the Bulldogs will host Gardner-Webb on Senior Day inside Kimmel Arena. The regular-season finale is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Promotions

Tickets will be Buy One Get One Free on Saturday, and kids who wear their youth jersey will receive free admission to the regular-season finale versus the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Also, all students who bring a friend to the game will receive "For Each Other" shirts at the game.

Last Time Out

Despite Fitzgerald netting a career-high 24 points in the final mid-week game of the regular season, UNC Asheville dropped a heartbreaker in overtime, 72-63, to Presbyterian on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Clinton, S.C. 

Fitzgerald netted 22 points in the second half and overtime sessions, and the senior center finished the game with a career-high 24 points. She was an impressive 10-for-11 from the field, which matches a career-high for field goals made. She totaled 12 rebounds, which marks her 17th career and 13th double-double of the season. 

Webb added 14 points, as she made five field goals. She also went an unblemished 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. 

Jessica Wall added nine points for the Bulldogs, and Zip Scott and Nadiria Evans each tallied six points. Tiffany Wilson and Wall each grabbed five rebounds. 

As a team, UNC Asheville held the narrow 26-22 edge in points in the paint. 

Overall, there were five lead changes, and the game was tied for 4:07. 

Honoring the UNC Asheville Seniors

During their four years of being a Bulldog, Fitzgerald and Webb have both made their way into the UNC Asheville record books. The two Bulldogs have won back-to-back Big South Tournaments and have appeared in two consecutive NCAA Tournaments. The duo has combined for 4,813 minutes, 1,943 points, 1,058 rebounds, 724 field goals made, 262 assists, 145 steals and 98 blocks.

Webb is the 20th Bulldog to eclipse 1,000 career points. She currently ranks 17th in program history with 1,044 points. Fitzgerald, who has 700 career rebounds, is 9th in program history in the category. She is also tied for 7th in UNC Asheville Division I single-season rebounding with 266 rebounds this season.

Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs

Gardner-Webb enters the regular-season finale 18-11 overall and 8-9 in Big South Conference play. In their last six contests, the Runnin' Bulldogs are 4-2. In road games this year, GWU is 6-6.

Gardner-Webb has two key players to focus on - Alexus Hill and Tierra Huntsman. Hill holds the team-lead in points per game (ppg), as she averaged 14.3. Right behind her is Huntsman, who averages 14.1 ppg. Huntsman leads the squad with 174 total rebounds, while Hill is second with 162 rebounds. Huntsman also leads the team in steals with 54 and free-throws made with 102. Ky'Asia Stanford is GWU's leading player in assists, as she averages 2.72 per game.

All-Time History Versus Gardner-Webb

Saturday's contest marks the 41st all-time meeting between the two clubs, as Asheville holds a 22-18 advantage. The Bulldogs are currently on a two-game winning streak versus the Runnin' Bulldogs. 

Earlier this season, UNC Asheville pulled off a thriller in Boiling Springs, N.C., as Webb netted three consecutive field goals, including the game-winner, to give the Bulldogs the thrilling 61-60 victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs. Webb finished the game with 13 points and four rebounds. Fitzgerald had a game-high 20 points, as she went an impressive 9-for-15 from the hardwood. The center also grabbed 14 total rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. Wall was the third Bulldog in double-figures in the contest, as she netted 14 points on four made 3-pointers.
