UNC Asheville's bid for a third consecutive Big South Tournament title fell just short in a 60-42 loss to top-seeded Liberty on Sunday, March 11, at the Vines Center.Â

Bronaza Fitzgerald was also named an All-Tournament choice.Â
For the second time this year, Zip Scott was the Bulldogs' leading rebounder, as she corralled seven defensive boards.Â
Liberty was led by three in double figures with Ashtyn Baker leading the way with 12 points.Â
UNC Asheville finished its loss to the Flames shooting 29.8 percent (14-of-47) as a team. Liberty shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) as a team.Â
Scouting the Paladins
Furman enters the WBI with a 17-13 overall record and a 7-7 mark in Southern Conference play. Despite being bounced out of the SoCon Tournament in the first round, the Paladins concluded their regular season 4-1 in their last five contests.
Furman has a trio of players that are averaging double figures in points - Cierra Carter, Le'Jzae Davidson and Celena Taborn. Carter is pacing the squad, as she averages 15.9 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per contest. Davidson is right behind her, as she averages 13.2 ppg and 34.4 minutes per contest. DeAnneisha Jackson is the Paladins' leading rebounder, as she corrals 6.8 rebounds per game to go along with 7.4 ppg.

Thursday's meeting will mark the 30th all-time meeting between the two schools, as Furman holds the narrow 15-14 all-time lead on the Bulldogs. In the last five head-to-head games, Furman holds the narrow edge, 3-2, as the Bulldogs' last win over the Paladins came during the 2015-16 season in Kimmel Arena, 84-71.
