ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To begin its two-game road swing, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team travels to Longwood on Saturday, Feb. 24, as the Bulldogs and Lancers will square off for a noon tip inside Willett Hall.

Last Time Out
The UNC Asheville women's basketball team won a defensive battle on Tuesday versus Campbell, as the Bulldogs defended Kimmel Arena, 38-33, against the Camels.
The Bulldog defense allowed just 33 points, which marks the lowest points allowed by the Bulldogs since surrendering 32 points against Radford in the 2005 Big South Conference Tournament.
With their win on Tuesday, it marked the second time that the Bulldogs have won 11 or more games in the Big South Conference since moving to NCAA Division I status for the 1986-87 season.
Also in its five-point win, UNC Asheville pulled of its first-ever sweep of Campbell during the regular season.
With her nine rebounds in the game, Bronaza Fitzgerald moved into 9th all-time in career rebounds, as she now has 675 in her career.
UNC Asheville held Campbell to a 27.7 field goal percentage and a 9.1 three-point percentage in the contest. The Bulldogs capitalized on multiple offensive rebounds and earned 10 second-chance points.
Fitzgerald led the squad in points with 12, and Khaila Webb was second on the team with seven.
Fitzgerald corralled nine rebounds, as she fell one board shy of another double-double during her senior season. Behind her in total rebounds was Ali Trani. The guard corralled six rebounds, including four offensive boards.
Dominating the Big South Conference
UNC Asheville is 11-4 in the Big South Conference this season. The Bulldogs opened conference play with a 6-1 mark, which included a five-game winning streak.
In Big South games, Webb, Fitzgerald and Jessica Wall have been the backbone for the Bulldogs. Fitzgerald leads the team with 14.0 points per game (ppg), while Webb (13.9) and Wall (10.5) are second and third on the squad, respectively.
The Bulldogs have a scoring margin of +6.5 in league games, which includes holding conference opponents to 55.5 ppg. More impressively, the Bulldogs are shooting .419 percent from the field in the Big South, including .346 percent behind the three-point arc. UNC Asheville also averages 6.4 more rebounds than league foes and makes 2.4 more free throws as well.
Scouting the Lancers
Longwood enters the weekend contest with a 5-21 overall mark and 3-12 record in the Big South Conference. In its last four games, Longwood is 2-2 with wins over Presbyterian and Campbell. At home, the Lancers are 4-8.
Autumn Childress and Micaela Ellis are the Lancers' leading scorers, as they average 10.7 ppg and 9.2 ppg, respectively. Childress is averaging a double-double on the year, as she grabs 10.4 rebounds per game. Ellis leads the team with 41 steals and 74 assists, and Dayna Rouse paces the squad with 16 blocks.
All-Time History Versus Longwood
Saturday's contest marks the 16th all-time meeting between the two clubs with Asheville leading 11-4.
The Bulldogs have won 10 consecutive head-to-head games. The last loss versus the Lancers was a 67-54 defeat on Feb. 23, 2013, in Asheville, N.C.
In the meeting earlier this year, the Bulldogs won 82-52. Webb tallied a game-high 19 points on 5-for-6 shooting. The Spartanburg, S.C. native made seven free throws on 12 free-throw attempts. Fitzgerald totaled 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting, as she was a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Freshman Nadiria Evans posted a career high with 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting. Fitzgerald and Tiffany Wilson paced UNC Asheville, as both grabbed seven boards.
