UNC Asheville Returns to Action this Weekend at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational

Meet Schedule
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After taking a weekend off, the UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams will return to competition on Friday, Feb. 2 as the two squads will compete in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational which is hosted by Liberty.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs broke two school records at the Keydet Invitational in the men's triple jump and the 4 x 400m. Victor Mathuthu posted a 14.06 jump which was a top-5 performance on the first day of the meet.
The second school record to fall at the meet was the 4 x 400m. Tyree McFalling, Matthew Harding, Hunter Koike and Kimani Anderson were the four Bulldogs that broke the record with a 3:19.38 time. The time was over two seconds faster than the previous school record.
On top of two school record-breaking performances, Koike had a strong performance in the men's 60m hurdles. He earned a spot in the semifinal round after a 7.04 time in the prelims.
Maddie Lowe finished 15th in the women's 1000m as she clocked a 3:11.22. She was just under seven seconds away from cracking the top 10 in the event for the Bulldogs.
In another strong team event for the Bulldogs, Harding, McFalling, Matthew Barrera and Dominic Collichio finished third in the men's 4000m Distance Medley Relay.
About the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational
The meet is a two-day event and is hosted by Big South Conference rival Liberty.
Friday will be a short day as there will only be four events - weight throw, DMR, 5k and shuttle hurdle relay.
Saturday will host the majority of the events, which will commence at 10:30 a.m. with the men's and women's 60mH prelims. The first field event on the final meet will be the men's and women's long jump on Saturday morning, and the final event of the meet will be the men's and women's 4 x 400m relay.
