Shipley Named Big South Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kylee Shipley of UNC Asheville women's tennis has been chosen as the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.
Shipley finished her first weekend of the year a perfect 2-0 at No. 1 singles and at No. 1 doubles.
In the season opener, Shipley picked up a 6-4, 6-3 over Mars Hill's Evan Lake on Friday, Jan. 26. One day later, the junior from Jupiter, Fla. garnered a 6-3, 6-3 win over USC Upstate's No. 1 Noelia Acuna on Saturday, Jan. 27.
In doubles, Shipley teamed up with Hannah Francisco to open the year with a 6-1 win over Lake and Jasha Geerdink of Mars Hill. On Saturday, Jan. 27, Shipley and Francisco collected a 6-3 win over Upstate's Carol Sigaki and Vale Zarama at No. 1 doubles.
Shipley and undefeated UNC Asheville women's tennis will next hit the road for the first time in the 2018 season to take on Davidson at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, in Davidson, N.C.
