UNC Asheville Women’s Tennis Opens Season With Big Win Over Mars Hill

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 season-opening win over Mars Hill on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
UNC Asheville easily secured the doubles point with the tandem of Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco besting Mars Hill's Evan Lake and Jasha Geerdink, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. Asheville's Christin Louw and Lauren Watson-Steele collected a 6-0 win over Sophia Pelaez and Dani Potts at No. 2 doubles.
Shipley garnered a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lake at No. 1 singles, while Louw picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win over Geerdink at No. 2 singles. Francisco earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Pelaez at No. 3 singles.
In her first collegiate match, UNC Asheville's Taylor Love earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mars Hill's Potts at No. 4 singles. UNC Asheville's Anastasia Horvat collected a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to secure her first spring win as a Bulldog.
