UNC Asheville Opens 2018 Spring Schedule With 7-0 Win Over Lenoir-Rhyne

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's tennis opened its 2018 spring schedule on Saturday at the Asheville Racquet Club Downton with a 7-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne.
The Bulldogs (1-0) opened things up by securing the doubles point to take a 1-0 advantage early.
At No. 1 doubles, the tandem of Henry Patten and Olly Cull bested Lenoir-Rhyne's No. 1 duo of Tomas Hons/Shane O'Dea, 6-4. UNC Asheville's Edward Colclough and Oli Nolan picked up a 6-2 win over Tales Miranda and Alex Crespo Sanchez at No. 2 doubles, while James Massie and Andrew Sinai secured a win at No. 3 doubles for UNC Asheville with a 6-4 win over Paul Lenz and Hamed Gandouz.
Ranked 43rd nationally, Patten picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Miranda at No. 1 singles. Nolan collected a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hons at No. 2 singles and Sinai earned a 6-4, 2-6 (10-3) win over Gandouz at No. 3 singles.
Colclough improved to 1-0 on the season with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, while Cull garnered a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Finlay Ray McFadyen picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Crespo Sanchez at No. 6 singles.
