ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville moved to 2-0 on the young 2018 season with a 7-0 victory over Mars Hill on Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
UNC Asheville (2-0) opened the match by easily securing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Bulldog No. 1 tandem on the day of James Massie and Andrew Sinai bested Mars Hill's Tom Farman and Kyrel Trim, 6-2, while UNC Asheville's No. 2 duo of Finlay Ray McFadyen and Reese Daly secured a 6-2 win over Rodrigo Ramos and Fernando Neto of Mars Hill at No. 2 doubles.
UNC Asheville picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles with Oli Nolan easily besting Mars Hill's Farman. At No. 2 singles, UNC Asheville's Olly Cull bested Mars Hill's Ramos 6-1, 6-1.
The No. 3 singles flight saw Massie earn a 6-3, 6-3 win over Neto. McFadyen garnered a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles over Trim and Daly picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Pedro Pinassi at No. 5 singles.
