Track and Field Gears Up for Keydet Invitational

Meet Schedule
ASHEVILLE, N.C, – After several strong performances at the ETSU Invitational last weekend, the UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams is geared up for competition at the Keydet Invitational from Jan. 19-20 in Lexington, Va.
Last Time Out
At the ETSU Invitational, seniors Hunter Koike and Kayli Nichols had one of the strongest performances for the Bulldogs as both runners earned a spot in the finals in their respective event.
Nichols had the fifth-fastest preliminary time in the 60m hurdles (9.13), and she was only 0.026 seconds from matching third place. Koike earned a spot in the finals as he finished seventh in the men's 600m (50.33).
Three Bulldogs recorded strong performances in the men's 5000m as Dominic Collichio finished third with a 15:43.58. The time was just under 13 seconds from matching the overall winner of the event. Zach Boone placed 12th with a 16:25.36, and David Hager rounded out the top 20 finishes (17th place) for Asheville with a 16:33.30 time.
About the Keydet Invitational
The two-day event will be held in Lexington, Va. inside the Corps Physical Training Facility on the campus of VMI.
The first event of the meet will be the women's 60mH prelims, and the men's 60mH prelims will follow immediately afterwards. The final event on Friday will be the men's and women's distance medley relay beginning at 7:25 p.m.
The final day will begin with the men's and women's mile along with the men's long jump and shot put events. The final event of the meet will be the men's and women's 4 x 400 relay starting at 3:40 p.m.
