How It Happened
The Bulldogs struck early and often as Naber opened the match with a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes. The senior drilled the top left corner from outside of the 18-yard box to open the scoring for Asheville.
With a 1-0 advantage, Naber doubled the Bulldog lead as she faked out a Camel defender, which gave her enough space to score the second goal of the match. With the two-goal performance, it was her second multi-goal game of her career and her sixth goal of the season, which is a career high for the senior.
Emma Houser nearly put Asheville up by three goals in the 17th minute, but the senior midfielder's shot hit the crossbar. Alison Kurucz rebounded the attempt, but her shot was blocked and was eventually cleared by Campbell.
The Big South's leader in goals scored – Alexa Genas - cut the deficit in half as she netted her 11th goal of the year in the 23rd minute.
Ten minutes later, Genas leveled the match as she scored her second goal of the game off a penalty kick.
The two teams were even in the first half as Asheville out-shot the Camels 6-5 including putting 5-4 on frame.
Asheville and Campbell came out fighting out of halftime as neither team held the advantage for the first 22 minutes.
The Camels started to find a rhythm halfway through the second half as they recorded three corners within a span of two and a half minutes. Campbell eventually capitalized in the 68th minute as Mackenzie Southern scored her first goal of the season and gave her team its first lead of the match at 3-2.
With ten minutes remaining, Genas scored the dagger in the 83rd minute as she tallied her third goal of the match.
With the 4-2 loss, the Bulldogs fall to 4-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the Big South, while Campbell advances to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in league play.
