How It Happened
Thirty-four seconds into the match, Caroline Houser nearly opened the scoring for the Bulldogs, but her shot hit the outside of the netting after taking advantage of an Osprey defensive mistake. North Florida generated a turnover on the left side of the field, but the UNF defender passed the ball back to Houser to give her a one-on-one chance with the Osprey goalkeeper. However, the senior didn't have a great look on goal as she tried to sneak the early shot under the UNF goalkeeper, but the attempt hit the outside of the netting to keep the game tied 0-0.
Both teams went back-and-forth in the first half, but Asheville came out with a 6-5 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes.
Just over 11 minutes after the start of the second half, Zoe Lewis worked up the right side of the pitch. She fed a cross to Naber at the top of the 18-yard box, and the Loveland, Ohio native curled the ball into the right side of the net to give the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead early in the second half.
The goal was her third in the previous two games, which puts her two goals away from tying a single-season high for the senior.
After several attacks from the Ospreys, North Florida scored its first goal of the game as Kendall Pollock beat the Asheville back line. She drilled a shot into the left side to knot the game at 1-1.
For the second match in a row, Asheville headed to overtime tied with its opponent.
With momentum on their side, the Ospreys scored the game-winner in the 96th minute after taking advantage of a defensive miscue.
The Bulldogs drop to 2-1 on the year while North Florida moves to 2-1.
