Women's Tennis Faces Off Against Wofford Friday in Spartanburg

ASHEVILLE, N.C.—The UNC Asheville women's tennis team will travel just down the road to Spartanburg, S.C., for a non-conference clash against the Wofford Terriers, this Friday, March, 31. The match will be held at the Reeves Tennis Center and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
BULLDOG BITES
A LOOK AROUND THE LEAGUE: Asheville is currently sitting in 5th place in the Big South Conference standings. Winthrop is atop the league, holding a 15-4 overall record, as well as a 6-0 conference record. Charleston Southern and Liberty find themselves right behind the Eagles, both undefeated at 4-0 in league play. Gardner-Webb is the other team above the Bulldogs with a 4-2 conference record.
WEEKLY AWARDS: Kylee Shipley was named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the week and Emily Sidor was named the Come Ready Nutrition Big South Conference Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week for the second time this season for their performances in matches played Feb. 27-March 6.
FRESHMAN SHINING: Freshman Emily Sidor has had a stellar start to the season and is now 8-4 in singles play. The first-year player got back on the winning track last time out with her near perfect, 6-1, 6-0, victory.
GOING THE DISTANCE: Sophomore Kylee Shipley has shown her resiliency this year as nine of her 17 matches have gone a full three sets. Shipley is not only 13-4 on the season in singles play, but 8-1 in matches that have gone the full three sets.

STREAK SNAPPED: The No. 1 pairing of Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco fell to 10-5 on the season, snapping their six-match win streak, when they were defeated by Winthrop's top duo on March 22.
UP NEXTÂ
The Bulldogs will conclude their regular-season when they travel to the Clinton, S.C., to face Presbyterian College on Wednesday, April 5, with the match beginning at 2 p.m.
