About UNC Asheville

The Bulldogs (2-7) won their first road contest of the season as they upended USC Upstate 76-70 on Sunday, Dec. 17 inside the G.B. Hodge Center.

Jessica Wall was the highlight of the game as the junior from Chapel Hill, N.C. dropped 22 points as she connected with seven three pointers. The seven made three pointers matched a program record, which Chatori Major set last year at Presbyterian. Bronaza Fitzgerald nearly tallied her third double-double of the season as she totaled 15 points and nine rebounds. Khaila Webb, Zip Scott and Wall combined for 16 of the team's 24 assists versus the Spartans, and sophomore Juliet Esadah was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field as she connected with six points in 12 minutes of play.

The Bulldogs out-scored the Spartans in three of the four quarters including a five-point advantage in the second quarter.

In the last three games, the Bulldogs are 2-1 with a 47-point win over Warren Wilson and a 6-point win over USC Upstate. During that stretch, UNC Asheville is out-scoring opponents by 14 points as it is averaging 77.3 points per contest. It has also made 19 more field goals, grabbed 15 more rebounds and recorded 4.6 more assists than opponents as well.

In the last three contests, three Bulldogs are averaging double-digits in points with Webb and Fitzgerald leading the squad with 13 points per game (ppg) each. Wall is the third player as she averages 11.0 ppg. Fitzgerald is almost averaging a double-double as she has averaged 9.7 rebounds per game.

At the Big South Conference Media Day, the Bulldogs were selected to finish fifth, despite receiving the second-highest amount of first-place votes in the league. Radford earned seven of the total first-place votes as the Highlanders were selected the win the league.

UNC Asheville opens its conference portion of the schedule on Jan. 2 at Campbell followed by the conference home opener on Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. versus High Point.
