UNC Asheville Fights for Big South Tournament Berth in Regular Season Finale

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To conclude its regular season, the UNC Asheville women's soccer team will travel to Gardner-Webb to fight for a Big South Conference Tournament berth on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Stadium.

The Bulldogs enter the Big South finale with a 6-10-1 overall record and a 2-5 conference mark.
UNC Asheville celebrated senior day on Saturday versus Liberty where it recognized seven graduating seniors – Emma Houser, Caroline Houser, Zoe Lewis, Courtney Naber, Brooke Miller, Katie Tuorto and Gretchen Dettlinger. After Saturday's home match, the seven Bulldogs have combined for 398 games, totaled 27,242 minutes, scored 50 goals, tallied 42 assists and netted 15 game-winning goals.
Naber and Caroline Houser are first and second, respectively, in total points on the Bulldog squad. Naber has scored a team-leading seven goals and has 15 points, while Caroline Houser is tied for the most assists on the team (3) and has 11 points. Emma Houser matched her sister as the senior also has a trio of assists this year.
There are eight Bulldogs that have totaled over 1,250 minutes on the pitch this year as freshman goalkeeper Bryson Lee has played every minute except four in goal. Right behind her is Tuorto as the Kings Park, N.Y. native has recorded 1,524 minutes followed by Emma Houser's 1,509 minutes.
As a team, UNC Asheville is ranked third in the nation in fewest fouls per contest as it averages 5.71. Leading the country is Iowa State as the Cyclones average 4.49 fouls. The Bulldogs' offense continues to attack the net as it is 85th in the country in shots on goal per game with 6.82.
Scouting Gardner-Webb
The Runnin' Bulldogs enter the game with a 4-11-2 overall record and a 2-4-2 Big South record.
In its most recent match, Gardner-Webb played to a 1-1 tie at home with Longwood, which pushed the Runnin' Bulldogs one point ahead in the conference standings above Asheville. Gardner-Webb is currently on a two-game undefeated streak as it won 2-0 against Presbyterian two games ago.
Two Runnin' Bulldogs have combined to record over half of the team's goals this year – Samuelle Grove and Stina Kleppe. Grove leads the team in goals (4), assists (2), points (10), shots (36) and shots on goal (20). In conference play this year, Grove and Kleppe have each scored two goals while four other teammates have each netted one.
